Anyone know if there is a similar program running for SWTOR?

From what I recall no, it seems to be only related to Turbine products. That is Dungeons and Dragons Online and Lord of the Rings Online. Not sure if any of their other products use it.

I've heard of a few other companies using it but they have it built in to their client. So it only runs when the client is running. Blizzard SORTA uses a similar technology but you have the option to disable it ;) Either way I think Turbines method is terrible and intrusive. They really should warn people about it.

Oh and before I forget, a lot of those Korean and Chinese free MMORPGS are known to be plagued with these sort of programs. Especially that Guard program they use to protect their MMO's.

I'm bumping this thread to make sure the new peeps and some older ones are still aware of this issue. Uninstall Pando Media Booster folks!

Thanks Xevan, this is super important for everyone to check on their machines. You might even see a huge performance boost or even less crashes. Removing it helped me a while back, and thanks to the reminder, I'm going to go back and check to make sure it didn't reappear after ROI, as soon as I get out of work

No problem I'm glad it helped! Please let others know a lot of folks don't check the forums or bother to read posts. Just let them know just in case.

With the new update and so many people having lag/crash/boot problems, I thought I would bump this thread and remind everyone to Uninstall the Pando Media Booster. Again, Huge thanks to Xevan for the find.

Glad this still helps people out, especially those whom had to download the client again after a reformat or crash and even corruption of data.

I hope you all realize that if everyone who has Pando installed removed it, it would take something like a week to download lotro from turbine's servers. Not that I'm advocating leaving it on all the time, but the people who do leave it on are doing everyone else a favor. Reconsider alternatives before uninstalling. Firewalls and bandwidth throttles work just as well.

Not everyone is familiar with Firewalls and Bandwidth throttles. I'm very familiar with it but it would be difficult to explain and or teach to those whom aren't as computer savy as most. A lot of people don't like the fact that they are being used as a server (to leech from). I can see where your going with this and I can see your point. However, there are some people whom have a bandwidth cap for the month and this would only make things worse.

Granted yes it will make downloading the client longer but Turbine should have thought of that before resorting to such distasteful tactics.

I say let OME benefit from the increased performance and let the rest of the community be a Turbine-bot....I mean it's not like anyone in the world can see this (SHHH, don't tell anyone).

Worth remembering, after a new expansion. Remove it if it shows up in your "Add/Remove Programs" (Win XP) list or "Programs and Features" (Win 7/Vista) list

Yep thanks for pointing that out. Each expansion and sometimes major updates reinstall Pando. You have to make sure to get rid of it each time.

Pando no longer comes with the LOTRO Client, I think as of September of last year, so from here on out if people need to reinstall or update the game it won't reinstall. However, for those that already had it installed, they will need to get rid of it.
